How Many Seats Are In Madison Square Gardens

Madison Square Garden Seating Chart, New York Rangers.

Madison Square Garden is one of the most iconic arenas in not just the United States but in all of professional sports. "The Garden" is also one of eleven arenas that is home to both an NHL team (New York Rangers) and an NBA team (New York Knicks), and is one of the busiest arenas in North America. Our staff wanted to provide a thorough breakdown of the Madison Square Garden seating chart to help other fans decide where to sit before purchasing their tickets for New York Rangers and New York Knicks tickets.

The Madison Square Garden seating chart is extremely complex due to the high number of exclusive premium seating areas offered to fans. Madison Square Garden was a much easier arena for fans to navigate before receiving several renovations beginning in 2013.

Where To Sit At Madison Square Garden

We'll begin our breakdown with the 100 level or lower level seats.

100 Level

The lower level seats at Madison Square Garden consists of sections 101 through 105, 109 through 115, and sections 119, 120. The earliest rows of the lower level seats are considered club seats and are priced at a much higher price point. All of the lower level seats at midcourt/mid-ice will be club seats and distinct from the other lower level seats. There are 145 courtside seats available for New York Knicks games at Madison Square Garden and they are part of the J.P. Morgan Club as well as the Delta Sky360 Club (see below).

The New York Knicks use the bench in front of section 108. The visiting NBA team uses the bench in front of section 106. The New York Knicks player tunnel is located in front of section 105.

The New York Rangers use the bench in front of section 106. The visiting NHL team use the bench in front of section 108. The penalty box at Madison Square Garden is located in front of section 117. The New York Rangers shoot twice on the goal in front of section 112. The visiting NHL team shoots twice on the goal in front of section 102.

The number of rows in each section on the lower level of Madison Square Garden will greatly vary. Row 22 is as high as the rows will go. Also keep in mind that row 1 will not always be the first row in the lower level sections due to the high number of premium seating options that are available near the court/rink. Like Yankee Stadium, the best seats at Madison Square Garden are often held by corporations leaving the average fan priced out of the seats closest to the action.

200 Level

The 200 level seats at Madison Square Garden, also called the upper level seats, consists of sections 208 through 227. The seats on the 200 level are the most affordable seats at Madison Square Garden and is where you will find the average fan during Rangers and Knicks home games. Like the lower level, the most expensive seats on the 200 level depends on how close you sit to the center of the arena. The rows for the 200 level sections will always begin with row 1. How many rows there are in each section will greatly vary on the 200 level. However, row 25 is the highest the rows on the 200 level will go.

The steps leading up to the seats on the 200 level are no where near as steep as they were before Madison Square Garden's renovations circa 2013. The recent renovations drastically improved the line of sight for fans seated on the 200 level.

West Balcony

The West Balcony seats at Madison Square Garden include sections 317 through 323 and are located on the upper west end of the arena. There are three rows of seats in the West Balcony sections and they're labeled rows 1, 2, and BS3.
