Typically, when information technology comes to a franchise, the manga is something of a crook canvas the anime copies off. It pulls events as directly every bit possible from the manga, with its major contributions being animation, color, music, and voice acting. But not every anime and manga are similar this.

For several reasons, Dragon Brawl Super'due south anime and manga have been pretty different from one another. Though they cover the same basic plot points, the details are often vastly different, and fans of both have claimed these differences are enough to judge one version superior over another. So this listing looks at five ways the Super manga is superior to the anime, and vice-versa.

10 ANIME: SPOTLIGHT FOR THE HUMANS

The best part of the Tournament of Ability in the anime is how every character gets a spotlight. None of the members of Universe 7's squad is put out without doing something (or several somethings) cool.

It serves as a reminder that everyone who's been working alongside Goku all these yearstin really fight, and provides some awesome fan service. The manga, unfortunately, isn't nearly as kind and kicks half the team out without even thinking nigh it.

9 MANGA: MORE TORIYAMA INFLUENCE

Super Saiyan God Vegeta

Compared to the anime, the manga has more of a Toriyama influence. Though Toyotarou is doing all of the artwork for the manga, he'southward working off of an outline fabricated by Toriyama. Moreover, Toriyama looks at and approves of all of his work before it comes out.

They've spoken in interviews near the quality of Toyotarou'due south work and Toriyama has given it glowing praise. Though information technology'due south no longer "canon" over the anime, the manga still has the blessing of the creator of the franchise.

viii ANIME: TRUNKS' REDEMPTION

Trunks fans definitely lost out in the manga. In the anime, during the battle with Zamasu and Goku Black, Trunks goes into this strange new form the fans have dubbed Super Saiyan Acrimony. It has the aureola of Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan Blue, and with this, he finally avenges the world and slices Zamasu in half.

The manga doesn't do whatever of this and just makes Trunks await similar a scrub who tin can't practice anything without help from dissimilar timelines.

seven MANGA: FASTER PACING

This is a flake more arguable than the others, as "faster" depends on how ane chooses to wait at it. On the i side, Dragon Ball Super'southward anime came out every week, while the manga releases in V Jump one time every month. The anime gives us 88 minutes of screen time to the manga's 40-44 pages a month.

Merely in terms of rewatching or re-reading, the anime takes forever to reach the same plot points the manga has already hit and moved on from. In the anime, Goku and Vegeta go back to the by several times while contesting Zamasu and Goku Blackness, while in the manga they don't repeat this bit nearly as much.

6 ANIME: CHARACTER Edifice

In the end, Super's ability to go along considering information technology didn't take to worry most getting alee of Toriyama helped it tell some pretty entertaining stories. In the manga, they pretty much get from beating Goku Black right into the Tournament of Power, briefly spending a bit of time talking almost who'll join the team.

The anime shows Goku helping Android 17 beat some poachers, as well as working with Tien to finish his martial arts schoolhouse from turning into a bunch of jiangshi vampires. They also get a cute crossover with Toriyama'south original masterpiece, Dr. Slump. The manga but doesn't have time for this, only that doesn't brand those episodes not worth the watch.

5 MANGA: POWER SCALING MATTERS

With the notable exception of Roshi dodging a couple of Jiren's blows (though this was something else), the Dragon Ball Super manga all the same seems to care about making certain the power scaling makes sense. Goku's not using Kaio-Ken times twenty, finer multiplying his power level by a geometric rate and still getting stomped out by Jiren.

Trunks isn't discovering new Super Saiyan transformations with zero explanation. For those fans who care nigh this sort of affair, Toriyama and Toyotarou seem to accept everyone'south standings well in paw.

4 ANIME: HIT IS More OF A THREAT

Ane of the biggest complaints near the manga comes up with respect to one of the newer introduced characters. A time-stopping assassin from Universe half-dozen, Hitting introduces himself by taking out Vegeta with a handful of punches and pushing Goku to use the Kaio-Ken while in Super Saiyan Blueish to stand up a take a chance...and fifty-fifty so it's all Goku can do to make things a tie.

The manga has Vegeta lose considering he showed off as well much, and Goku only needs Super Saiyan Blueish to have Hit down. Though some might argue this makes Goku and Vegeta wait like their training is paying off, others would say information technology merely makes Hitting look bad.

3 MANGA: IT Is NOT Always ABOUT STRENGTH

While Dragon Brawl Super'due south manga does do a lot more to constitute everyone's standing in terms of their power, the focus is non but on strength.

Specially in the current arc, every bit Goku and Vegeta are both vastly stronger than their opponent just aren't able to do anything well-nigh the unique abilities he possesses. It'southward made clear that for either of them to stand a run a risk they'll need to effigy out something that isn't increasing their power levels.

2 ANIME: VEGETA'due south CHARACTER ARC

One of the better parts about the Tournament of Power is the fight between Vegeta and Toppo. After Toppo begins using his Destruction Ki to finish off Frieza, Android 17, and Vegeta, it looks rather dire for Vegeta. But Vegeta manages to delve deep, finding new reserves of strength to boxing against Toppo. In the end, he reaches a "new" phase of power by accepting who he is.

Information technology's the inversion of the Buu Saga, where existence a father and a husband turned him evil. Instead, he refuses to let go of his family, his friends, or his pride as a Saiyan. This realization makes Vegeta experience similar he has finally come full circle as a character; in the manga, Vegeta gives a similar voice communication while facing Jiren, but it fails to hit those same points every bit effectively.

ane MANGA: IT'S STILL GOING

The best thing the manga has over the anime is merely the fact that it is still ongoing. There take been rumors the anime will somewhen come dorsum, but they've simply been rumors, as the series running in its timeslot is notwithstanding going.

Though Super might somewhen return, for the time being, the but place we can get new stories told almost our favorite Dragon Ball characters is the manga series. Nosotros're already halfway into one arc and there seems to be no sign the series is going to finish anytime shortly.
